.....****ooo000ooo >>SNOW DAZE<< oo000ooo***.....
|
|
It's Monday and it's a snow day. Half of the kids are in the house. The other half are outside playing in the snow. It's WAY cold. Took a few pix of doggie outside this a.m. Now, she's a lil fattie for a jack russell terrier, but she didn't break through the top layer of snow. After it stopped snowing last night, the sleet started and this morning we had a frozen top coat of ice. She did her business, tried to eat some snow, and then wanted back in.
I miss being a kid and playing outside in the snow all day. My Mom used to have to drag me inside the house, lips blue, snots frozen....... I'd come in long enuf to thaw out and then run back outside. The cold doesn't seem to matter as much when you're a kid and have a sled.
So back to the snow day. I have to go make some lunch for the kids.

OK, so the good news!!! Last night I come home from my ventures at the portrait studio with the kids to find my husband writing frantically at the computer. He's got a.m radio on next to him and he tells all of us to be quiet bc he's trying to win something on the radio. OK......The comedian Steven Wright is in town for one night on Friday and they're giving away tickets on the radio. Now you have to understand, my husband loves this man. Not literally, but he's been listening to him and quoting him for the last 15 years or so. He's his comedian God. So much so that he had friends calling last night to say, "did u know that Steven Wright is going to be in town tomorrow night?"
Short story long.....He's the right caller, he names all the people in the music montage and HE WINS!!!!...not just the tickets, but a dinner for two as well!! Understand that it's been a while since we've been on a date. Come on...we have 4 kids and our idea of a night out is going to the free movie on navy base....WITH the kids! I call up my best good girlfriend and beg her to watch the kids. I'll make dinner for everyone involved. It's a deal. I'm watching her kids on Tuesday so I dunno if she feels obligated or what, but she agrees.
So, it's a date! I'm really excited. I had to deal with my husband all last night saying, "guess where we're going?.....guess who we're going to see?..." He's on cloud 9. It should be a nice night out. I'll take pictures.
Below are some of his quotes. He's hilarious....
My dental hygienist is cute. Every time I visit, I eat a whole package of Oreo
cookies while waiting in the lobby. Sometimes she has to cancel the rest of
the afternoon's appointments.
I have two very rare photographs.
One is a picture of Houdini locking his keys in his car.
The other is a rare photograph of Norman Rockwell beating up a child.
I stayed up all night playing poker with tarot cards.
I got a full house and four people died.
It's a small world, but I wouldn't want to have to paint it.
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?
A lot of people are afraid of heights. Not me, I'm afraid of widths.
I wear my heart on my sleeve. I wear my liver on my pant leg.
Last week I forgot how to ride a bicycle.
I went camping and borrowed a circus tent by mistake. I didn't notice until I
got it set up. People complained because they couldn't see the lake.
Sponges grow in the ocean. That just kills me. I wonder how much deeper the
ocean would be if that didn't happen.
Two babies were born on the same day at the same hospital. They lay there and
looked at each other. Their families came and took them away. Eighty years
later, by a bizarre coincidence, they lay in the same hospital, on their
deathbeds, next to each other. One of them looked at the other and said, "So.
What did you think?"

No Themes or Reason
|
|
No real themes or rhyme or reason to my pictures lately. It's been a blah week. Went to lunch today with a friend. Panera Bread rules. I could live there. I could survive on their bread and coffee. I'm sure of it.
I'm ready for my psychology class to be over. I'm done with reading and studying for the night. My older sister is in medical school...2nd year...I don't know how she manages to study as much as she does. I think our brains can only retain so much information and then it all starts to fall out of our ears. Too much studying for me is like a clogged toilet that overflows...I can only take so much before it starts to spill. Yuck. Real nice analogy. Let's put it behind us now.
Party at my house on Saturday. Mostly navy guys n gals. So many people getting ready to ship off. So many people getting ready to pull into port. My friend Lara's husband is coming home at the end of this month from a 9 month cruise. Did you hear me? A NINE MONTH CRUISE!!!!! I know people say that "hey, it's his job. He signed up for that when he joined the Navy"....but if you think of it practically...a mother at home with their 5 children, missing Daddy/husband...uh. I'm enjoying my husband being at home. He's put in his share of time at sea. Matter of fact, he's been home for a year and a half and that's the longest interval in between cruises in 13 years.
Anyway, I need to crash. Lots going on tomorrow, including house cleaning...yippee!! Got some good news to share, but I'll save it for tomorrow's entry....No Mom, I'm not pregnant again.....I got my tubes tied! remember?
goodnight fotoland.

Always fun to take the kids to the portrait studio....
I call it my Penance. did i spell that right?
For whatever evil or wrong I do, I think that I'm forgiven after doing time after the portrait studio.
25 pictures, some tears, some stress .... But in the end, here's what we got:
inside i felt like
ah memories.........

Cinnamon Rolls n Goofin Off
|
|
I can write now. Ealrier I couldn't. Why? Because my son was talking to me this morning as I was checking my email and decided that he was going to knock over my entire cup of piping hot coffee directly into the keyboard. I have a really bad track record with keyboards. I've been through 4 in the last year. Luckily, I had a spare one that I could set up. I actually bought it at a thrift store. It's a memorex wireless keyboard n mouse. It was new in the box. It works like a charm. It was 7 bux.
So what a mess. Coffee all over desk. All over my pj's. All over the rug. I'm glad it didn't get down into my file cabinet. Ug, cold coffee pj pants. How do kids pee their pants??? It felt awful on my walk to the room to change. There was no salvaging the keyboard. Nuff said.
I'm posting pictures from the making of cinnamon buns. My kids always enjoy these. They don't last too long. The other pictures are just my guys goofing around.
I'm sleepy now. I'm going to take a power nap.

(i borrowed the fantastic winter photos from http://blueridgeblog.blogs.com/blue_ridge_blog/2003/12/new_snow_photos.html)
Well, woke up early this a.m to find that it was snowing. I've really wanted for it to snow since we hadn't seen any yet. But not this WEEKEND!!! I was planning to travel. I'm a jersey girl and I grew up pretty snow savvy, but my husband (also from jersey by the way) would have a melt-down if I were to venture out on the roads for a 3-4 hour solo trip. So, I'm snowed in. Kids had a snow day. That's always a joy for me. They played their favorite game of "lets watch the vein in mommy's forehead pop out". I guess my yard had the best snow in the neighborhood, so every kid came to visit from miles around. I thought I might go mad if I heard one more time: "mommy, come look at how big the snow man is now!"
And then the wet boots, hats, pants, coats, mittens. My boys went through more clothes today then the chicks on MTV's Rich Girls. I was just starting to have fun when my husband decided to put boots in the dryer and kill it. I suppose I'm due for a new dryer. I got a washer and dryer as a present from my in-laws when I was pregnant with the twins and they are 9 years old. The washing machine crapped out in 2003.
Tonight, with wet clothes hanging in the bathrooms, coat racks, hangers and anywhere else they can swing, I'm sitting looking out the window on this chilly, white-coated night and I'm grateful. My boys had fun today in the snow. They went through a whole box of hot chocolate, a gallon of milk, 2 boxes of cereal and a loaf of bread. That was before 10am. The rest of the day they grazed in between playing outside and coming in to warm up. We had a late dinner, they all watched a movie and I didn't make them take showers before going to bed. Tomorrow starts the weekend and instead of traveling to North Carolina for my solo weekend, I'll be doing today all over again, broken dryer and all. These are the days that I cherish now and will cherish even more later.
Now I have to brave the snow and go walk the dog. Stay warm out there people. I hope the cold finds you warm indoors and inside.
