The Sand Lot

My nephew has discovered sand. I took him to another baseball game and he parked himself in the sand area practically the whole time. Despite bathing, he'll have sand in crevices and hair for another week.

Kids sure know how to enjoy life Thu 3-Jun-2004 19:26

Hi, you don't know me, but I was Tazion's foster mom for 10 months. I googled his name on the off chance that Allison had posted some recent pics of him somewhere on the net, and I found this page. I don't even know if you'll get this email, but I had to take a chance.

Please pass on to Allison and Taz that I think about them often and I hope they are doing well. It was a pleasure and an honor to take care of him. Tell them and your mom that I said hello! I would love to see a recent picture of him.

Much love,
Becky Miller.

my deepest, sincere condolences ... in spite of this tragic loss, the fact that we can share experiences like this on a global basis, makes it seem like you've honoured your friend by making his life more widely known to those of us who didn't have the pleasure of knowing him. Fri 14-May-2004 15:33

Little boy, in a baseball hat,
Stands in a field, with his ball and bat,
says "I am the greatest, player of them all"
puts his bat on his shoulder, and tosses up his ball.

And the ball goes up, and the ball comes down,
he swings his bat all the way around,
and the worlds so still you can hear the sound
as the baseball falls, to the ground.

Now the little boy, doesn't say a word,
picks up his ball, he is undeterred,
Says "I am the greatest, there has ever been,"
and he grits his teeth, and tries it again.

And the ball goes up, and the ball comes down,
he swings his bat all the way around,
and the worlds so still you can hear the sound
as the baseball falls, to the ground.

He makes no excuses, He shows no fear,
He just closes his eyes, and listens to the cheers.

Little boy, he adjusts his hat
picks up his ball, stares at his bat,
says "I am the greatest, the game is on the line,"
and he gives his all, one last time.

And the ball goes up, like the moon so bright,
Swings his bat, with all his might,
and the worlds as still, as still as can be,
and the baseball falls, and that's strike three.

Now its supper time, and his Mama calls,
little boy starts home, with his bat and ball,
says "I am the greatest, that is a fact,
but even I didn't know, I could pitch like that."

Says, "I am the greatest, that is understood,
but even I didn't know, I could pitch that good."

--Kenny Rogers

Life Goes On

When the world doesn't make sense to me, my family always does. I say without guilt that I'm grateful that my husband is on shore duty right now and won't be deployed anytime soon. Next year he returns to sea duty and will go on cruises and if this mess in Iraq is still ongoing, guess where he'll go??
Today I cherish my family. I don't take them for granted. I know I am a lucky woman.
At the park I soaked in the sun and soaked in the precious moments that I'm given to cherish them.
What else matters at the end of the day but the love that you have?
Loved ones can piss you off and step on your very last nerve, but that's not what you'll remember most.
There really is no business hating anybody with all the hate in the world already. Fighting, arguements, family drama, old family history, not talking to eachother. Blah, blah, blah....It's insignificant. Let it go. It only destroys you. Learn how to forgive.
And yes, I practice what I preach. My father disapeared off the face of the earth for more then 7 years following a nasty divorce. The day he left was the day he stopped supporting his 4 children in every way possible. And when he came back into my life years later it wasn't much better. I had to deal with denial, alcoholism, lies and anxient family history retold his way. Today, he's forgiven. He's not perfect. Nobody walking this earths surface is. If you think that you are, let me see you walk on water!!

powerful ... your experiences have been good learning tools for you - you LIVE your life fully and passionately, with meaning. Most people aren't as aware. Tue 11-May-2004 02:40

[color=darkblue]Spirits are down but not broken.
How can it be that you left me so young?
And your beautiful son..
At 5, does he care about this war?
Will he remember you?
Will he be proud of a father that served?
Or will he stay mad at this country for ripping
you away from him?
A hole is left where your soul once lived.
Leaving us to cry and mourn.
It's hard to accept this part of the plan.
I didn't see it coming.
And now it's oh so personal.
This is my goodbye.
"the smiling face of death shines upon us all and all we can do is smile back."
Those are your words.
It helps to see you smiling, Chris Watts.
